Forced an arranged marriages among migrant communities in Spain: unraveling meanings and risk factors in building comprehensive models of invention and prevention
Objective 1
To establish analytical tools and provide conceptual boundaries between FM and AM.
Objective 2
To identify risk factors (at individual, family relationship, community and societal levels) that increase vulnerabilities to FM and lead to different forms of gender-based violence.
Objective 3
To design successful and efficient strategies for the prevention of and response to FM.
Our proposal:
1.
A comparative and multi-level perspective (local, national and international).
2.
An interdisciplinary approach (socio-anthropological and legal).
3.
Gender dimension, taking into account that these practices impact women and men differently in a transnational dimension, as these are practices that transcend national borders.
4.
Temporal dimension, considering that FM and AM are dynamic practices that span individuals' life trajectories and are in constant evolution, adaptation, and change (primarily as a result of migration and settlement processes).
5.
Multi-variable dimension, as FM and AM are embedded in complex assemblages that oscillate between consent versus coercion, while in between there is a vast grey area of interactions that allow for a multiplicity of (non)negotiated situations.
