Dr. Sònia Parella, a researcher at CER-M, will address the challenges of research into international migration from a comparative perspective. Her presentation will provide an opportunity to reflect on public policies, institutional innovation and reception practices in the face of contemporary migration challenges.
For his part, Dr. Massoud Sharifi, a researcher at CER-M, will analyse the new dynamics in migration flow and border control policies, examining their geopolitical impacts. His presentation will contribute to the joint debate aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the study of migration.
CER-M is taking part in the IV International Seminar on Public Policy and Innovation for International Migration from a Comparative Perspective
On 8, 9 and 10 July 2026, Dr. Sònia Parella and Dr. Massoud Sharifi will take part in the IV Seminário Internacional sobre Políticas Públicas e Inovação para as Migrações Internacionais em Perspectiva Comparada from a Comparative Perspective, to be held at the University of Brasília (Brazil).
The seminar will bring together researchers, institutional decision-makers and professionals from various countries to reflect on the current challenges of international migration from a comparative perspective. The programme includes round-table discussions on migration research, public policy, reception practices, institutional innovation and border dynamics, as well as workshops for pre-doctoral researchers.
Dr. Sònia Parella will take part in the round-table discussion ‘Challenges for research into international migration from a comparative perspective’, and Dr. Massoud Sharifi will speak at the session ‘Migration and border policies: new dynamics and geopolitical impacts’.
Furthermore, the International Associated Laboratory (LIA) will be officially launched during the event. This is a joint initiative between the Université Paris 8, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Universidade de Brasília, aimed at strengthening international cooperation in migration research.
